The photography book Chloë Sevigny (Rizzoli), together with the fact that our favourite fashion icon is turning 40 this year, have created a big buzz in the fashion industry, with almost any fashion magazine featuring an interview with her lately. I have read them all cause I have always loved her “not very beautiful” face, her shoes designs and her rebellious attitude.
So far, what I have found to be the most intriguing approach, is the one taken by Interview magazine. To celebrate the publication, Interview asked 12 friends and colleagues of the likes of Juergen Teller, Larry Clark, Kim Gordon, With Stillman, Rita Ackermann, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, to each contribute one question for Sevigny to answer. The result is a honest and very intimate portrait, like the book itself.
“To be a true icon, you have to have style emanating from you. And you have to have figured it out on your own and have a point of view, a perspective, and be able to translate it in some personal way.”
